5 STEPS TO SUCCESS
If you’re reading this in hopes to find a solution for your late night snacking, to being overweight, to lack of motivation or lack of knowledge to decide where to start, then keep reading. The following will be 5 Steps to overcoming your obstacles and reaching your goal.
STEP 1 – FACE IT, YOU’RE NOT THERE YET.
If you have a goal, then that means you have something you want and haven’t gotten yet. It’s an objective and your target. The fact that you have a specific goal puts you in a better position than if you just have a “general dream”. Example: I want to lose 10lbs vs. I want to look better. Having a specific goal will be something more attainable and you’ll be able to create a plan to get there. Just because you’re not at your goal yet, keep a positive mindset along the way. Appreciate where you start and then move forward from there. In this journey, you will be your biggest competition, therefore if you start with a bad attitude; it’ll take you twice as long since you’ll have to overcome your initial problems first.
STEP 2 – WHAT GOAL & WHY?
Now that you have a specific goal, re-evaluate it. Is it realistic? Is it attainable? Why do you want this goal? The reasons behind your goal will be what will drive you or keep you back from reaching your goal. If you want to lose 10lbs to fit in your new clothes, go for it! If you want to lose 10lbs because you want to fit in with the crowd – forget it. Having a goal close and personal to you will give you more motivation in the long term. Find a goal for you!
The word “fail” has always had a negative connotation. In your progress to your goal, you will fail, however failures will be what will make you stronger. How? Let’s take weight training for example. Doing one exercise until failure means that you exert a magnitude of effort as you develop the ability to withstand fatigue and continue until you can no longer and then you repeat again. That one example should set the positive image you want when you refer to “failure”. Knowing that you have and will continue until you can no longer, and then you’ll repeat until your goals are achieved.
STEP 4 – CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE
In order to reach something you don’t have, things have to change. Changes will be your path to success. If you always catch yourself sneaking to the refrigerator late at night or adding too much sugar in your coffee in the morning, start by changing those little things. At first it might not seem like you’re doing much, however over time, your taste buds will change, you’ll adapt to healthier habits and you won’t even look back. Get informed about health & nutrition, read labels when you go grocery shopping and add in more vegetables into your current diet. Don’t make the mistake to jump overboard and cut everything out at once, do it progressively so that these habits stay permanently.
STEP 5 – YOU MADE IT!... NOW WHAT?
First thing you should do is congratulate yourself! You put in hard work, many efforts and put your plan into action! Next, now time to create another goal. If you’re at the weight you were aiming for, try something new. Try completing a race, try increasing the amount of push ups you can do – the options are limitless – YOU are the only one who will set these limits. Don’t limit yourself. Dream big and achieve bigger!
To go through each step will not be easy, will take much patience and determination but it WILL be worth it! Take the chance to fail and that’s how you will succeed!
