Safe Sex is Always in Style
Written by Susan ThornOkay all you smart fashionista babes! You've found the perfect bathing suit this season, the perfect flip-flops, coupled it up with the cutest accessories, you’ve got your beach hair going on, you’re ready for anything, right? Not quite! Don't lose your sense of smart fashion when it comes to safe sex! When it comes to great safe sex, the top fashion designers have you covered. Babe bling has not only found its way into the condom world but promotes a great cause as well. No matter what the intimate activity, make proper attire a prerequisite for safe sex. There is a smart down-to-earth girl in all of us; don't lose it in the moment. There comes a time when nothing else will do but the proper attire AND the proper protection.
Some of the world’s top fashion designers recently coupled up with a company called People's Revolution to create a fashionable condom line, called Proper Attire, that is both reliable and effective. These condoms are FDA-tested and undergo rigorous quality assurance testing by the manufacturer, as well as by independent laboratories. I had the opportunity to check these out up close and personal. The difference in quality is topped only by the fun and stylish design.
Just out late last March, Isaac Mizrahi launched his line by hosting a cocktail party at the Soho Grand Hotel in New York City. Isaac, in his typical style of signature pretty prints, wraps up his limited edition condom packaging for Proper Attire in bold over-sized polka dots and pretty pink and white gingham. He feels that protected sex is one of the most important issues in a woman's life and to bring style and whimsy to it was a great opportunity for him.
Other top designers that have collaborated with the brand in their own slick condom packaging include Mara Hoffman, Alexander Wang, Charlotte Ronson, and Jeremy Scott. All proceeds are donated to Planned Parenthood, so you can feel good about contributing to a good cause as well.
The People's Revolution is not the only one on the "bling my ride" campaign. Check out www.luckybloke.com. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about one person in the United States will contract HIV every 10 minutes; by the time we are 25, one out of two of us sexually active adults will have contracted a sexually transmitted infection. And the pregnancy rate for teens in the U.S. is the highest among all developed countries. Listen, ladies. While unprotected sex may be brief, the consequences could last a lifetime. Next time the night ends and you're inviting someone in, let them know that proper attire is required for entry!
