LEAGUE TO SAVE LAKE TAHOE AND SAKS FIFTH AVENUE CELEBRATE 54 YEARS OF FASHION WITH OSCAR DE LA RENTA ON AUGUST 5

The LEAGUE TO SAVE LAKE TAHOE and SAKS FIFTH AVENUE will celebrate over five decades of partnership during their annual fashion show and luncheon taking place Saturday, August 5 on the shores of Lake Tahoe. This year’s event will feature the OSCAR DE LA RENTA Pre-Spring 2024 collection presented by Creative Directors LAURA KIM and FERNANDO GARCIA.
The elegant luncheon and full-scale runway fashion show will be held at the Schumacher family home on a beautiful stretch of Lake Tahoe’s iconic shoreline. The weekend kicks off Friday evening with a VIP cocktail party hosted by 181 Fremont Residences, followed by Saturday’s main event beginning with a cocktail reception hosted by the event’s premier hotel partner Waldorf Astoria, Lake Tahoe, (opening 2028) continues with a luncheon hosted by AT&T and live auction MC’d by Jennifer Wright of Christie’s, and concludes with a backstage shopping opportunity to follow the runway fashion show. A guest list of 430 will attend.
The Tahoe fashion show tradition dates back to 1969 when barefoot models wearing designer Bill Blass’s collection walked across a plywood stage as the event’s first 100 guests enjoyed box lunches from picnic table seating on the sand. In 1999, Bill Blass handed the baton to the legendary Oscar de la Renta. Now in its 54th year, the fashion show has evolved into a widely anticipated fundraiser for both Saks and the League to Save Lake Tahoe, resulting in over $23 million raised in support of the League’s mission to “Keep Tahoe Blue.” The philanthropic event has helped make possible some of the League’s landmark victories, including stopping sewage dumping in the Lake, banning polluting two-stroke marine engines, and, in 2022, saving 880 acres of virgin forest from development.
